Special issue information:
Nanomaterials and nanoparticles have revolutionized analytical chemistry by enhancing the sensitivity, precision, and efficiency of chemical analyses. Due to their unique physicochemical properties, such as high surface area-to-volume ratio, quantum effects, and tunable electronic and optical characteristics, they enable the detection of analytes at ultra-trace levels. Applications include their use as catalysts, biosensors, and fluorescent markers in techniques like electrochemical analysis, spectroscopy, and chromatography. Nanoparticles improve the selectivity of sensors for biomolecules, toxins, or pollutants and enable real-time monitoring in complex matrices. Their versatility and functionalization capabilities make them indispensable tools in advancing the accuracy and scope of modern analytical techniques.
